DAVE COMP
PRESIDENT
The role of the club President is to provide leadership for our organization. Dave serves as an exemplary representative, possessing a deep understanding of surf politics and exceptional patience.
DANIEL HARVEY
VICE PRESIDENT
The role of the Vice President at BBSLSP is focussed on member development, as our members and patrolling lifeguards are our biggest asset. The VP supports the strategic direction and operational leadership of the club and will attend events and lead board activities if the President is unavailable.
PATRICK NEWLAND
CLUB CAPTAIN
The club captain oversees patrolling and lifesaving operations. Creating seasonal patrol lists, ensures compliance with the Patrol Operations Manual, manages Patrol Captains and Vice Captains, and attends meetings with the committee and other organizations to ensure effective operations at Bethells Beach.

SECRETARY
The Secretary's role is to offer essential assistance and support to the committee, which is highly valued and appreciated.

TREASURER
The treasurer is responsible for managing the club’s finances. With eight AGMs of experience, Mike is actively seeking an assistant, whether a member or a volunteer to support this important role.
ADRIENNE HANSEN
CLUB CUSTODIAN
The club custodian is responsible for maintaining the club building and grounds. Adrienne dedicates her time to various tasks, including repairing the deck and addressing prickles in the grass, often using her own feet to ensure a safe environment.

MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR
Our Membership Coordinator, excels in managing member databases with precision. Ensuring that all member information such as qualifications, birth dates, patrol assignments, and subscription statuses is meticulously maintained and up to date.
DONAL DRAY-HOGG
BRAND & MARKETING OFFICER
Responsible for managing and elevating the club's brand across all platforms. This role focuses on crafting and executing marketing strategies, driving community engagement, and ensuring that all communications are aligned with the club’s core values, ensuring clarity and consistency at every touchpoint
SAMANTHA MARRA
JUNIOR SURF COORDINATOR
Sam has been actively coaching junior surf since 2016 and stepped into her current leadership role in 2024. Her passion for teaching children surf safety and skills drives her mission to instill a lifelong love for the ocean in every family. Supported by an exceptional team of coaches and volunteers, Samantha continuously seeks to grow her team to further enhance the program.

In our world, health & safety are two words that we hear daily. Our H&S Officer takes those words and puts them into action, making sure our recording and reviews of any incidents are aligned with the most recent best practise - and this can also change daily!

EVENTS & RETENTION MANAGER
Bobbie brings a deep understanding of member engagement through her long-standing experience as a dedicated club member. Her passion for organising events helps cultivate the inclusive and positive environment that members value.
BRI MADDOX
SPORTS MANAGER
The Sports Manager role plays a pivotal role in overseeing the club’s senior sports competitors, managing their registrations for numerous events nationwide throughout the summer. As an experienced official, Bri possesses in-depth knowledge of the sport. In addition to her primary duties, she also manages the rapidly expanding IRB racing teams, demonstrating her dedication and commitment to the club’s sporting success.
SUE BEWSTER
FUNDING OFFICER
Sue joined BBSLSP in 2012 when her daughters became Junior Surf members. Knowing her girls, Maisy 11 and Meadow 9, were venturing into the rugged West Coast surf, Sue felt she should walk the talk and became a lifeguard at the age of 46. Since then, she hasn’t looked back and loves the vibe, whānau and mission of BBSLSP. Sue says ‘our mission is simple, we save lives’. That is motivation enough for her to want to walk with our partners, funders and donors into the future.
DYLAN THORPE
GEAR STEWARD & POWERCRAFT OFFICER
Responsible for maintaining and overseeing all lifesaving and powercraft equipment. Dylan dedicates countless hours to ensuring the upkeep and repair of our gear, especially the IRBs, which endure the rugged conditions of the West Coast surf.
LOUISE MOSS
ROOKIE COORDINATOR
Our Rookie Coordinator, prepares 13-year-olds to meet lifeguard standards by age 14. She helps them develop water confidence, first aid skills, and vital beach safety knowledge. Through hands-on experience with real patrols and collaboration with other beach clubs, Louise ensures rookies gain both practical skills and community connections.

WELFARE OFFICER
Our Welfare Officer, plays a key role in upholding our commitment to member health and well-being. With extensive experience and a compassionate approach, Mike is equipped to address any welfare concern, whether large or small. Members trust Mike to provide support and guidance on personal matters, knowing that he genuinely cares about their well-being.
SHANE COWARD
FIRST AID OFFICER
Our First Aid Officer, is a valued paramedic who oversees our first aid room, kits, and emergency medical care equipment. He ensures that all our first aid resources are of the highest standard and imparts his extensive knowledge to enhance the skills of our lifeguards. Shane's dedication goes beyond basic care, providing thorough and expert medical support.
JIMMY KENDRICK
RADIO OFFICER
The Radio officer purpose is to ensure radio and communication equipment is working effectively for all lifeguard operations. Surf Lifesaving New Zealand has a radio network that connects all of the country with many advanced features. Jimmy is a man of many roles with Surf Lifesaving, he brings expertises of working in both Surf Lifesaving and Ambulance radio communication centres.
CHARLOTTE HARVEY
18 CLUB CAPTAIN
The 18 Club Captain, coordinates regular events to enhance the skills and foster team building among our under-18 lifeguards. She also ensures that they are informed about ongoing training and development opportunities as they become available.
